E’ un tavolo semplice e forte, con le gambe ben piantate a terra e un’architrave che sostiene il piano. E’ una piccola architettura. Ferro crudo e legno di ontano. L’ontano è un legno strano, morbido, certamente non pregiato, eppure molte case di Venezia stanno in piedi da secoli grazie a questo albero che cresce lungo i fossi. A contatto con l’acqua diventa nero e durissimo.
Strong, simple and solid, the Ercole table has a lintel which supports the top. The table is made of raw iron and alder wood. Alder is a strange, soft wood, certainly not a precious wood, the majority of buildings in Venice have stayed standing for centuries on piles made of alder trunks. When it comes into contact with water, alder wood turns black and becomes very hard.
